I have some sad news to share.\u00a0 Buckeye’s sanctuary bunny,\u00a0Humphrey,\u00a0passed away\u00a0on Monday, April 23, 2018.\u00a0 We knew Humphrey had cancer, but it\u00a0did not slow him down.\u00a0 Despite his\u00a0different\u00a0aliments, Humphrey was always his normal upbeat, inquisitive, and\u00a0rascally rabbit self.\u00a0 Once\u00a0his\u00a0appetite was gone and his energy level was not the same, we knew it was time.\u00a0 Humphrey lived much longer than any of us expected.\u00a0 He was loved and cherished\u00a0and will be terribly missed.\u00a0\u00a0His foster\u00a0mom, dad, and doggie sister\u00a0loved him so much.\u00a0 Binky free, Humphrey!\u00a0 — Stephanie Lodge<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Handsome Humphrey was originally taken in by Buckeye House Rabbit Society in August 2016.\u00a0 Unfortunately, as many people know, certain colors and breeds of animals are not as popular as others, so our handsome boy remained a foster.\u00a0 It wasn’t until April 2017 that we noticed a lump on Humphrey’s side.\u00a0 Sadly, the biopsy results came back abnormal and the vet suspected cancer.\u00a0 It was then that we knew he would become a sanctuary bunny.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Since then, BHRS member Stephanie Ash has cared for Humphrey as her own.\u00a0 Despite not knowing how long he will be with us, we make every day the best day we can for him with lots of treats, gentle pets, room to play, and fun enrichment activities.\u00a0 He is happy, and even though his lump continues to grow, he still doesn’t realize anything is wrong with him.<\/p>\n

Our sanctuary rabbits require special love and care. Their home is with us at the sanctuary and they are not available for adoption. You can directly support these rabbits by sponsoring them<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Humphrey is a very busy boy.\u00a0 He is only about one year old and loves free time away from his pen.\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t care for being held (because that takes time away from his freedom to explore, you see). \u00a0He does love attention and is very people-friendly.\u00a0 Humphrey loves shredding up newspaper inside of his cardboard box.\u00a0 Humphrey is a bit of a goof ball and is sure to make you laugh.<\/p>\n
